Pederson Law Office is a solo practice law firm.  That means when you hire Paula, you get Paula!  You don't get an associate, a trainee or a "fill-in."

Paula grew up and attended undergraduate and graduate school in California, Oregon and Japan. After graduate school, she moved to Washington D.C. to study Law. Paula received her law degree from Howard University, School of Law in 1994, graduating cum laude. After receiving her law degree, she worked for the National Academies of Science and Takoma Park-East Silver Spring Legal Clinic.

 

Paula came to South Dakota in 1996 to work for the Pennington County Public Defender’s Office. For the next 17 years, Paula fought for justice for the citizens of Rapid City and Pennington County.  She was an aggressive advocate for those with no voice.  In 2013, she retired to open her own office.  As a former attorney with the Public Defender’s Office, the last five years as its director, Paula has a wealth of knowledge and experience in all areas of criminal law and conflict resolution that she will utilize as your advocate.

 

Paula is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the South Dakota Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Black Hills Criminal Defense Bar Association.  Paula is also an active member of her community and has served on the Board of Directors with SunCatcher Therapeutic Riding Academy, Rapid City-Nikko City Sister City Association, Giddy Up Open Horse Club and Omniciye Rotary Club.
